What’s Up

July 20, 2008

Just a hectic summer schedule here.

The kids are busy working and playing.  I am discovering that I was a better mother of young children than I am of young adults.  I find myself needing to lean into God’s grace for parenting now more than ever, hoping He will redeem both my mistakes and theirs.

We have been enjoying time with friends – both local friends and friends passing through town.  A busy social schedule is such a contrast from the years when few people spoke to us.

In blogland, I try to keep up with my blogreading when I have a few minutes.  My time for writing has been pretty disjointed, and I have piled up scraps of incomplete thoughts in my draft folder.

There are quite a few book reviews that I would like to finish over the next month.  Some that I am excited about and some not so much.

When I review, I try to be objectively positive, pointing out the things that I like, assuming that one can usually find something good to say.  However, that doesn’t necessarily mean that I think you ought to run out and buy every book that I review.

I don’t know how I feel about that as a review policy.  Maybe I should be hard-nosed and edgy. What do you think?
