I spent some time the last couple of weeks trying to clean my basement office/store room. It is the repository of all things no longer in use, and over time gets pretty cluttered.
Because I only keep a small bookcase in our living area, one of the things that grows, almost like fungi, are stacks and [...]

I get a lot of search engine terms on my blog that have to do with prophetic words. Apparently the recent earthquake shook up some folks. A couple of the search terms yesterday were specifically related to California – “san francisco prophetic word” and “prophetic disaster for the bay area”.
To be honest, I [...]

Interesting statement by my husband…
“Church is the only place that really doesn’t have to work, and it will just keep going and going and going…

And you thought I was cynical.
BTW, he added qualifiers and disclaimers later.
We both love the church. Really.

Can we truly conceive of the church as an organism instead of an organization? – (Tony Sundermeier via Bill’s blog)
Frankly, no you can’t. Because (A) people tend to organize, and even organisms are organized in and of themselves, and (B) implying that organism is a binary opposition [...]

by Hugh Halter and Matt Smay
“Their goal wasn’t to attract people to worship services, but to be the faithful church in small pockets throughout their city. Based on their experiences, the authors offer some intentional activities and habits of life that can help a faith community make God’s kingdom more tangible.”
This is probably one of [...]

Just a hectic summer schedule here.
The kids are busy working and playing. I am discovering that I was a better mother of young children than I am of young adults. I find myself needing to lean into God’s grace for parenting now more than ever, hoping He will redeem both my mistakes and theirs.
We have [...]

In case you missed it, Brad Sargent said this in his latest post on spiritual abuse…
Might I suggest that the point of power-plays is to turn church life into a churning saga that thereby keeps that ever-important supply of endorphins flowing to the power addict and the others?
Is it possible that we have become neurochemically [...]

In a book that I was reading recently, it mentioned that sound waves exist within the smallest known particles of matter. Science isn’t one of my favorite topics, but this idea caught my interest, so I did a little basic research. This is what I discovered about string theory and the “theory of everything”:
We have [...]
